What is the ISO 45003? Definition and Workplace PHS Impact

ISO 45003 is the first international PHS standard that provides practical guidance on managing psychological health and safety in the workplace. Unlike broad wellness initiatives, this standard is a technical document that integrates psychosocial risk management into an organization’s existing Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) management system.

It provides a structured framework for identifying the specific aspects of work—such as work organization, social factors, and the work environment—that can impact employee mental health.

The International PHS Standard was informed by the Canadian National Standard (i.e CSA Z1003), making Canada the leaders in Psychological Health & Safety.
